Understanding REIKI and What to Expect at Your REIKI Session
Reiki is a great place to start your health and wellness journey. Did you know animals so love the energy and healing of REIKI too?
You may have heard the term ‘REIKI’, but not quite sure what exactly REIKI is or what it does.
Let me first explain, WHAT IS REIKI?
REIKI is an alternative form of medicine considered ‘energy healing’ to balance mental, emotional, spiritual and physical ailments, which aids in relaxation, assists in the body’s natural healing process, helps people cope with physical and mental difficulties and provides overall wellbeing for mind, body and soul.
The word Reiki is made up of two Japanese words – Rei which means “God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power” and Ki which is “life force energy”. So putting those two meanings together, Reiki is “spiritually guided life force energy.”
Reiki is a Japanese technique based on the principle that a REIKI Practitioner can transfer life force energy to a client by palm healing or hands on healing.
Everyone’s life force energy flows through the body by way of pathways: chakras and meridians.
If your “life force energy” is low, then you are more likely to feel sluggish, get sick or feel stressed, and if it is high, you are more likely to feel alert, happy and healthy. REIKI heals the affected or blocked parts of the energy fields (Chakras) by clearing negativity and replacing with positive energy.
REIKI works hand in hand with other alternative, medical or therapeutic treatments to promote healing and recovery.
What to expect at your Reiki Session
A REIKI session can be a different experience for each person. You are fully clothed for your session, so I would recommend wearing comfortable clothes. You will be asked to remove eyeglasses, shoes and jewelry.
Before your session begins, your goals for the session should be discussed and completing a medical history should be required. You will lie on the massage or treatment table, fully clothed, face up.
Soft music intended for a Reiki Healing Session will play in the background. Reiki is offered through light, non-invasive touch with hands placed and held on a series of locations on the head, neck, front and back of the torso. The placement of the hands are never intrusive or inappropriate or with any pressure. Additional placements on the limbs can be done. The practitioner’s hands can be just off the body if needed (for example, in the presence of an open wound or burn).
The experience of Reiki is sometimes very subtle and other times very pronounced. You could experience heat or a tingling sensation from the practitioner’s hands or sometimes the practitioner’s hands will feel cool. Other common experiences are light pulsations on hand placement or pulsations felt throughout the body.
My clients often commented how comforting their session was and that they felt lighter. Some people will drift off to a deep sleep, some between a state of consciousness and sleep and then some stay awake with their eyes closed..
Your first REIKI session can be dramatic, slightly noticeable or uneventful. I have had clients wake up from a deep sleep smiling, crying and even laughing, all considered a release.
The most common experience is an immediate release of stress and a feeling of deep relaxation. You may also notice other changes as the day or night goes on, such as; being more alert and focused, digestion changes and sleeping better.
Reiki is cumulative, meaning a person can have deeper experiences as they continue their sessions.
Another REIKI Session you can experience is DISTANCE REIKI or ABSENTEE REIKI.
Reiki distance healing is a technique used by Reiki Level 2 and above practitioners to send Reiki healing energy anywhere around the World. This method is an effective way of sending healing energy to anyone, anywhere at any time.
For distance healing, the practitioner would need your full name, details of any specific areas in need of healing, emotional situation or illness/disease.
An appointment is made for exact time and day your session will take place. On the day/night of your appointment, you will be asked to lie down in a quiet place for about 30 minutes.
All my clients requesting distance REIKI receive a phone call or email message (their choice) upon completion of my interpretation of their session.
Feel free to contact me with your questions or concerns and accept my special introductory offer to experience REIKI for yourself, whether it is in office or absentee.
